Sorry, Bobo. I’m disinclined to agree that sociology is that important.
I couldn’t stand it in college, so I dropped it. It’s too susceptible to bias. Its results are soft science at best. Sort of like taking climatology and, instead of using hard science methods, you just make various computer models until they agree with an agenda, then get your government funded friends to agree to create a consensus, and then declare that it’s a true fact. Group Think is studied in sociology, and that is to its credit, but it’s usually co-opted by journalists, and any science behind Sociology is left starving.
Sociology is merely psychology applied to groups. It’s interesting, important, but fragile, and can be manipulated far too easily.
Here’s my order of preference and importance: Cosmology, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Beer.
But keep up the good work, anyway. I studied journalism and history: if it can’t be proved it a laboratory, it may be a fad.

I think sociology is important, but not more important than any other subject. I’m a sociology major myself [well, a double major but that is one of my majors]. Sociology on its own may lead to a pit, because it could make one condescending or feeling like they know better than others and not be open. All subjects lead to a better understanding of people and together, they are pertinent as survival.
Sociology – the study of gruop mentality
You can wrap this all up into a single button – most people dont like to stand alone so they follow others. They become followers – those that stand alone will be the leaders.
In every group – even as little as two people – there is a leader and then there are followers. Anyone new to the group is usually “indoctronated” and told how the group runs – this sets the pace so nothing chances and everything remains status quo.
Look at the monkey experiments – the ones where they climbed a certain tree and got wet – this was done until all the monkeys in the control learned to stay away from the tree – then one by one the originals monkeys were replaced with new monkeys – the new monkeys never got into the tree because the old monkeys never got into the tree – either that or the old monkeys warned the new monkeys that they woudl get wet – in either case – eventually all the original monkeys were replaced – but none of the new monkeys ever went to the tree at all
Like those monkeys – humans do the same thing – they dont want to step outside their comfort zone and so – they become sheepple – they stay away from the tree – so you want to study this for what reason?? to learn how to create new tress for them??
Sociology isnt necessary for the survival o fthe human species – procreation is what is required for that. Sociology is good if you want to learn how to control the group. It has nothing to do with the survival of the group.
